SISY
Cultivating Soft Skills for Youth with Learning Differences through Sports

THE PROJECT
SISY: Cultivating Soft Skills for Youth with Learning Differences through Sports is a 24-month Erasmus+ Project dedicated to inclusive participation and the promotion of soft skills in young people with specific learning differences through the integration of physical activities and sports into educational curriculum.
PROJECT RESULTS
The project aims to revolutionize learning dynamics in young people with specific educational needs by promoting practical learning through sports-related activities and the creation of a new benchmark in inclusive learning for young people, educators and youth workers and trainers.
The project’s main objectives, in addition to supporting youth workers and trainers in realizing more inclusive learning experiences, include:
• Enhance the quality and innovation of youth work practices by integrating sports into informal and non-formal learning for youth with learning differences.
• Strengthen the employability of youth with learning differences by using sports to develop essential soft skills valued in the job market.
• Promote cross-sectoral cooperation and network-building by creating a dynamic, pan-European Community of Practice, a collaborative network of youth workers and organizations specializing in learning differences across Europe.
• Encourage active citizenship among youth, particularly those with learning differences.
• Engage, connect, and empower young people with learning differences, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
• Increase participation of youth with learning differences through a range of activities, including sports, storytelling videos, community dialogues, and social gatherings.
The project will work towards these key objectives and aspirations through the creation of an innovative collection of resources and learning opportunities designed specifically for the needs of youth with learning differences and trainers educating them. These tools will include:
• SISY’s Collaborative Learning Hub: A collaborative learning community and network, established by trainers and educators, featuring online training offers to integrate sport into education and further develop soft skills in youth with learning differences whilst strengthening collaborative efforts and cohesiveness and solidarity in education.
• Inclusive SISY Sports Tournaments, including Workshops and storytelling videos based on the implementation of these to reflect the challenges and the importance of soft skill development and inclusive participation in sports and education, as well as how these work together.
• Social Gatherings and Community Dialogues, including online and in-person workshops and presentations that will strengthen the community roots of SISY by encouraging use of the project’s methods and tools into the future, whilst offering opportunities for local community networking and connection for educators, youth workers and trainers.
All these results and outputs will be created through community engagement and expert analysis of real needs of youth with learning differences, with a perspective of inclusion without condescension or social barriers, leveraging sports and collaborative activities to improve soft skills in target group members.
TARGET GROUPS
Through the development of these results and outputs, SISY will provide an innovative learning and development opportunity to various key target groups:
• Youth workers and educators.
• Youth organizations.
• Specialized youth workers and organizations focused on supporting youth with learning differences, like ADHD, APD, and Executive Functioning Disorders.
